MH Support Services
Mental health services at Fayette Resources, Inc., for Individuals with IDD (including Autism) with co-occurring mental health challenges, are ever-changing. Changes in treatment over the years have led Fayette Resources, Inc. to provide interventions and support with attention given to the Individual’s voice and choice in choosing the type and amount of behavior health services required to reduce and manage mental health symptoms that interfere with everyday life.
Individuals receiving support for mental health services at Fayette Resources are part of an Interdisciplinary team that knows and understands mental health conditions for persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The principles of recovery have been influential in giving the Individual as much control as possible over their lives and continually assessing the challenges with the risk-averse nature of the person’s mental health symptoms and challenging behavior.
Focused and individualized treatment plans are designed to meet the person’s behavioral health needs, are based on presenting concerns affecting the Individuals’ day-to-day life, and are embedded in Fayette Resources’ guiding principles of Community Supports Programs. Along with these guiding principles is the firm belief that most people with significant mental health concerns can live successfully in community settings when adequate support is provided.
The behavioral health treatment plan designed by the Clinician and the Direct Support Professionals involves educating the Individual about their diagnoses, presenting symptoms and current medications, monitoring and tracking interfering mental health symptoms, use of coping skills, and response to interventions throughout the day.
Fayette Resources believes that creating successful living environments for consumers is best facilitated through the transition of consumers into the community as a collaborative effort between all agencies serving the consumer and creating an inclusive community support network. Fayette Resources homes are designed according to the principles of Everyday Lives and Positive Approaches for the individuality, rights, and dignity of every consumer who receives mental health services.
Each person receiving mental health services participates in the development of their plan of service to alleviate and reduce life stressors that interfere with the person’s life daily. Fayette Resources working with the Individual and the team will provide the support and the environment necessary to achieve success and personal growth.
Fayette Resources had made an agency-wide commitment to the principles of informed decision-making and self-determination (i.e., freedom, authority, support, and responsibility). Individuals are provided with choices and every opportunity to support their ability to make choices (both positive and negative choices) and learn from their varied life experiences.
