Adult Training

Fayette Resources provides practical, personalized Adult Training Services through its Activity Centers. Individuals with developmental disabilities from both community and residential living settings receive highly individualized functional, integrative, and age-appropriate service across many training areas.

Individuals are served at the Centers based upon their unique needs

Trained Activity Center staff use an objective assessment scale to determine the skill levels of each participant. The scale evaluates all areas of daily living, from domestic to vocational activity, and results in a profile summary that reflects the individual’s strengths and needs. Activity Center staff use the profile summary to develop goals that will help the individual thrive in the home, at work, and in the community at large.

Individualized support plans encourage the individual to develop new skills and to maintain or improve abilities in current skill areas. The major emphasis of programming is placed on increasing independence through essential skills like self-care, vocational development, intellectual and communication skills, social and personal development, and leisure activities and interests.

Adult Training Services places an emphasis on integration into the community, by scheduling frequent field trips and volunteer activities such as delivering Meals on Wheels, maintaining the grounds along a stretch of “adopted” highway, and helping out at the Red Cross, among others.

Supported Employment

Industry-integrated training at Fayette Resources is an approach designed to assist businesses in hiring persons with disabilities.

Working closely with participating companies’ personnel, the employment specialist analyzes, performs, and then teaches an identified job until the individual can achieve appropriate production goals. Fayette Resources’ industry-integrated training is flexible by design in order to match the needs of the employer with the skills of the individuals we support.
