Since Kyle Daugherty has joined the Fayette Resources family in 2005, he has continued to learn many self help skills as a continuation of his high school education. Fayette Resources staff works with Kyle to learn new skills daily. He continues to increase the distance in which he can self propel his wheelchair. This helps to increase Kyle’s independence with in his home and community.
He often goes back into his room and gets items of interest. Kyle has learned to help with his laundry in terms of placing dirty laundry into the basket, into the washer, and then into the dryer. Kyle has begun to pack his own lunch. First staff will give him choices of items, then Kyle will locate the items, and finally he will place them in his lunch box. He often makes choices of what clothes he
would like to wear or what snack he would like to eat.
Kyle also has many opportunities to be out in the community and interact with his peers. Kyle enjoys playing games with the staff such as his magic trick of making his arm disappear and eye spy. Kyle has an inviting demeanor that is uplifting to all. His smile has the ability to brighten anyone’s day.
