OCTOBER 2010
Up-to-the-minute news from our family to yours.
A World of Opportunities

Thanks to our Direct Support Professionals.

A wise person often reminds me that there are some things we can control however, most times the issues facing us are out of our control. It is then we can put time and energy in order to effect some positive change. Since the change of seasons is under the uncontrollable category, we are doing our best to welcome fall but look back fondly on a great, too quick, crazy summer.

Our National Association ANCOR has declared with support from the United States Senate, the week of September 12th, Direct Support Professionals Week. Everyone knows about the day to day work load but sometimes we need to remember that DSP's are the heart and soul of the agency. Without DSP's, people would still be institutionalized, living in environments that are unbelievably restrictive and away from all the joy they find from living in the community. DSP week is a collective thank you to all of you who show up every day with a smile on your face and a willingness to support the individuals in our programs. We recognize your hard work, your dedication and your loyalty.

I would like to thank all of the employees of Fayette Resources not only for your hard work and dedication, but for your patience and thoughtfulness during these chaotic times. Remember uncontrollable change is often painful and presents challenges but with hope and positive actions, controlled change is possible. A World of Opportunities.

Sincerely,

Kathryn Susano Morris
President/CEO

Clearfield / Jefferson Region celebrates 10 years with Fayette Resources

Soon after Direct Support Professionals Week was honored nationwide, Fayette Resources had some celebrating to do of their own. It was a full house at the 10th Anniversary party for the DuBois Region where over a hundred people gathered to celebrate 10 years of success, growth and individual achievements. Mark Adams was on hand from Senator Joe Scarnati's Office to present a proclamation to Fayette Resources on his behalf and Jefferson County Commisioners Paul Corbin and James McIntyre spoke as well and offered their kind words about the critical role Fayette Resrouces plays in their communities.

CEO Kathy Morris recounted her experiences in expanding Fayette Resources to that region and premiered a new video that gave life to that story for everyone in attendance.

Anniversary, merit and achievement awards were presented by Kelly Knarr and Mark Hamilton and management team members to close out this wonderful evening.

Eagle Scout Completes Project at Windfall Road Location

Sam Schneider of St. Marys recently completed a landscaping project at our Windfall Road location in the process of becoming an Eagle Scout. He is the nephew of our own Craig Schneider, and Uncle Craig couldn't be prouder of the landscaping in front of his home.

Sam planted trees, fenced in a vegetable garden, put in white picket fence, mulch and shrubbery in front of the home, and our favorite - contributed the 940 stone with the Fayette logo on it. Thanks so much Sam and all your friends who helped complete the project!
